Enjoying a sensory experience at Alpine Lodge
Alpine Lodge Care home in Stocksbridge has just invested in some sensory lighting.
Recently, this care home has spent time creating sensory experiences for all the residents, including an ice cream maker and a beach scene. The residents living with memory issues, really enjoy these experiences.
Sensory areas are unique places for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia to explore and stimulate all five senses safely and for calming or stimulating, depending on the needs of your loved one.
So it was another pleasure to watch the reaction as all the residents enjoyed some quiet time, listening to music and watching the lights dance around the room.
Music and lighting affect us all to watch someone become calmer and less agitated as they enjoy the lighting, is very emotional.
Well done to everyone at Alpine Lodge.
