Our Home

Highfield Care Centre is a bright and spacious purpose-built care home in Allerton Bywater, near Castleford. Highfield provides residential care for residents, while the separate Lodge provides additional support and care for those living with dementia.

Rooms

The home has 88 ensuite rooms split across the two locations, all decorated to high standards, with modern furnishings and fittings. Residents are encouraged to personalise their own space, decorating with pictures and photographs.
The home benefits from a number of additional spaces, including a reminiscence room used for one to one and group activity sessions, and allowing our residents to talk about their memories and tell their stories. Angels Café is a dementia friendly space, where residents have access to healthy snacks within a bright and memory-triggering environment. We also have a hair salon with a visiting hairdresser to ensure our residents can look their best

Keeping Active

The home is very much part of the local community and we are often taking part in local events, in addition to regularly meeting with our local primary school children. We are pleased to currently home six hens as part of the HenPower project, which is a charity initiative we are working with to reduce isolation and loneliness within older people. Many of our ‘henshioners’ enjoy collecting the eggs and taking part in the hen related art projects.

Meals

Burlington Care strongly support the provision of a healthy, nutritious and balanced diet for all residents. The approach to nutrition taken is based upon choice and quality for residents. We take pride in providing tasty, tempting meals for our residents. Mealtimes are regarded as enjoyable social occasions for most residents, although those who wish to eat their meals in their own rooms are enabled to do so. Each resident will be asked for their individual food preferences as well as their cultural, religious or health needs and these will be taken into account when planning menus. Special dietary requirements can be met, as all our meals and baking are ‘home’ cooked on the premises. Friends and relatives are welcome to make use of the conveniently located kitchenettes, one on each floor, which are available 24 hours a day.
