This week a group of Figham House residents got together to work on a Christmas Songwriting project. The Christmas Songwriting Project is open to care home residents and schools.
The project asks that care home residents change a line, in the much-loved Christmas song Twelve Days of Christmas.
First, everyone gave their ideas of what was important to them about Christmas and what they liked about Christmas.
There were a lot of suggestions, which included seeing family, get-togethers, turkey dinner, decorations, singing Carols, pantomime, giving gifts and of course, the grub!
Elaine, the Activity Coordinator helped the residents decide upon which line to change and it was agreed, that the first line; On the first day of Christmas, should be changed.
The residents then gave some thought to what they could sing, taking into account the things they had discussed.
Edward suggested: a robin, a tree
When asked who the person could be, Nancy suggested herself!
Elsie did the singing.
