The Hawthornes is in the heart of Birkenshaw, a village community located between Bradford and Leeds. Specialising in care for the elderly, The Hawthornes provides 24-hour residential care within modern and purpose-built accommodation.
The home has 40 ensuite rooms, all decorated to high standards, with modern furnishings and fittings. Residents are encouraged to personalise their own space, decorating with pictures and photographs, and some furnishings from home if they wish. The communal areas are spacious and light and it’s here that our residents can spend time together. A choice of TV or quiet lounges and a family room for more personal gatherings are fitted with a loop system for those with hearing difficulties.
Being involved in what is going on and taking part in fun activities is a essential part of life. Our approach to residential care focuses on ensuring that a wide range of activities and social events are regularly organised, such as functions and events, film nights, card and board games and many more. Birthdays of residents are always celebrated. We encourage our residents to take part in the many activities available locally.
Burlington Care strongly support the provision of a healthy, nutritious and balanced diet for all residents. The approach to nutrition taken is based upon choice and quality for residents. We take pride in providing tasty, tempting meals for our residents. Mealtimes are regarded as enjoyable social occasions for most residents, although those who wish to eat their meals in their own rooms are enabled to do so. Each resident will be asked for their individual food preferences as well as their cultural, religious or health needs and these will be taken into account when planning menus. Special dietary requirements can be met, as all our meals and baking are ‘home’ cooked on the premises. Friends and relatives are welcome to make use of the conveniently located kitchenettes, one on each floor, which are available 24 hours a day.
